Desiring to Have the Mind of Christ, Phil. 2:5-8

Desiring to Have the Mind of Christ, Phil. 2:5-8

Phil. 2:5-8, ESV: Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Oh to have the mind of Christ!

To have the mind of Christ: to make myself nothing this is the ultimate in self-denial; to think as Christ thought; to desire as Christ desired; to choose as Christ chose.

Let us desire to have the mind of Christ. We have the mind of Christ when we humble ourselves to the lowliest level (made himself nothing), Matt. 11:29: I am gentle and lowly in heart. To humble ourselves is our preparation to obey God sacrificially, Phil. 2:8: He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. To humble ourselves is our preparation to pray, 2 Chr. 7:14: if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

To humble ourselves is our preparation to receive the word of God, Ja. 1:21: receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
