The Dwelling of God in the Hearts of His Saints

By Archdeacon Habib Guirgus

Motivate the desires of your heart and your hopes toward God, so He may incline to you and imprint Himself in your desires and be with you.

The Lord said; "Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).
"I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you... He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him...If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him and We will come to him and make Our home with him" (John 14: 18,21,23), "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20).

Love Him and know His commandments, so He may love you and dwell in you according to His promises.

The presence of the Lord in the hearts of His saints is the 'dowry' of the happiness of the saints and the beginning of their joy, till they see Him "face to face" (I Corinthians 13:12).

God is present everywhere; on land and in the sea, in heaven and on earth, "He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:27, 28).
He is before you, present in you, and looking at your works and is watching you.

Contemplate on His effect on nature, and when you realize His presence and feel Him before you at all times, you will work diligently maintaining order and with zeal. Who can be lame and lazy in the presence of his master, and refuse to do his work?

How much shame and disgrace encompass me, O my Lord, when I realize that You are looking and watching what's in me?  Let me be energetic, pure and straight for in Your presence all my inwards are uncovered "I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope" (Psalm 16:8, 9).

Who will preserve you or keep you if you do not believe that the Lord is present and is with you, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God" (Psalm 9:17). The Lord said; "I will establish My covenant between Me and you... for an everlasting covenant" (Genesis 17:7). O Lord, I place myself between your hands and in Your presence, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life?" (John 6:68).

God will never forget you, why are you trying to forget Him? He constantly seeks you, why are you running away from Him?  His companionship is good and His presence is beneficial and joyful, why then don't you accept His companionship?

Bring out of your heart the fervent zeal, which is rooted in the act of love and the malleable desires, so it becomes like wings to fly and come close to God. Your heart will then live by it, and you will feel His presence and unity with Him subconsciously in an un-explainable way.
