Christ's_linking_the_Son_of_man_with_the_forgiveness_of_sins_(Mk_2:5-10)_and_with_the_coming_judgment_("He_has_given_him_authority_to_execute_judgment,_because_He_is_the_Son_of_man"_Jn_5:27)_greatly_enhances_the_importance_of_the_Son_of_man,_since_judgment_is_attributed_to_Him_as_if_He_is_greater_than_it._It_is_given_to_Him_because_He_is_the_Son_of_man,_or,_as_we_say,_because_He_is_the_Son_of_God,_or_because_He_is_God._Here_it_is_Christ's_direct_intention_to_make_the_glory_and_power_He_had_before_His_incarnation_just_as_effective_in_His_incarnate_state._It_is_as_if_He_is_saying_repeatedly_that_the_Son_of_man_is_the_Son_of_God_who_has_become_a_new_Adam_with_all_the_powers_of_the_Son_of_God.

Christ_also_paints_a_picture_of_the_Son_of_man_full_of_light_unequaled_by_any_creature,_when_He_speaks_of_His_coming_as_the_Son_of_man_who_would_light_up_the_heavens_from_one_horizon_to_the_other_as_by_the_presence_of_God_Himself:_"For_as_the_lightning_comes_from_the_east_and_shines_as_far_as_the_west,_so_will_be_the_coming_of_the_Son_of_man_..._and_they_will_see_the_Son_of_man_coming_on_the_clouds_of_heaven_with_power_and_great_glory"_(Mt_24:27,_30).

Here_Christ_is_eager_to_awaken_our_hearts_to_the_fact_that_the_body_that_He_took_from_our_humanity_will_not_be_separated_from_Him_when_He_is_risen_for_ever_at_the_height_of_his_glory_and_power._The_Son_of_man_is_Christ_manifesting_His_divinity_in_His_humanity._His_glory_and_authority_and_power_are_not_separate_from_His_humanity._Rather_His_humanity_makes_it_possible_for_us_to_look_upon_Him_and_see_Him_perfectly_and_know_Him_and_draw_close_to_and_even_participate_in_His_divinity.
