Concordance of Messianic Prophesies
Reference to God's vesture
Isaiah 63:1-6,
Who is this that cometh from Edom, with
dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in
the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that
treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people
there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them
in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will
stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year
of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I
wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought
salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down the people
in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their
strength to the earth.
Isaiah 62:12,
And they shall call them, The holy
people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city
not forsaken.
Revelation 19:13
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped
in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
A prophecy is the future told in advance
by God through a prophet.
Isaiah 48:2-5
I foretold the former things long ago,
my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they
came to pass. For I knew how
stubborn you were; the sinews of your neck were iron, your forehead was
bronze. Therefore I told you these
things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could
not say, `My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.'
2 Peter 1:19-21
And we have the word of the prophets
made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light
shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your
hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came
about by the prophet's own interpretation.
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men
spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
(Luke 10:23-24, 24:27).
"Jesus turned unto his disciples,
and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For
I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which
ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and
have not heard them.... And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself"
God as the Creator
Amos 4:11-13
teaches that this same God is the Lord,
the God of Hosts.
Colossians 1:16-17
allows for contemplation: For by
[Christ] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:And he
is before all things, and by him all things consist. It is not too terrible an
assumption that He, being the creator of governments and nations, would fall
under the role as being the God over said sovereignties.
Isaiah 43:15
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the
creator of Israel, your King. Another verse shows that the God of the Old
Testament is not merely the God of Israel, but also the God of other nations.
Jeremiah 27:6
We see the Lord show some favoritism to
a non-Israelite: And now have I given all these lands unto the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field
have I given him also to serve him.

acceptable year of the LORD."
(Isaiah 50:4)
"The Lord God hath given me the
tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him
that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as
the learned."
(Isaiah 35:3-6)
"Strengthen ye the weak hands, and
confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong,
fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a
recompence: he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be
opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man
leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall
waters break out. and streams in the desert." "Then was brought unto
him one possessed with a devil, blind and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch
that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and
said, Is not this the son of David?"

Diverse reaction of God
1 Chronicles 21:1,7:
And Satan stood up against Israel, and
provoked David to number Israel. And God was displeased with this thing;
therefore he smote Israel. That seems very unjust. Despite the fact that we
truly do not know, and cannot comprehend the nature of why this was done, we
can turn to some very compelling verses of scripture to see the love of the God
of the Old Testament.
[Isaiah 54:7, 10]
For a small moment have I forsaken thee;
but with great mercies will I gather thee. For the mountains shall depart, and
the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall
the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
John 5:22, 27:

"These are the words which I spake unto

scriptures" .

with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them,
and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any
more pain: for the former things are passed away."
Jesus the Man
(2 Samuel 7:12,13)
"And when thy days be fulfilled,

LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he
hears with his ears; but with
righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for

blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of
heaven and earth. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine
enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Psalm 110:4
The Lord hath sworn, and will not
repent, Thou [Messiah] art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchisedek.
Zechariah 6:12
And speak unto him, saying, Thus
speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch;
and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the
Lord.
Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of
the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession,
Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 5:5-10
Christ glorified not himself to be made
an high priest; but he that said unto him [His Father], Thou art my Son, to day
have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for
ever after the order of Melchisedek. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had
offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that
was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared. Though he
were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being
made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey
him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedek.
Hebrews 7:1-8:2
This Melchisedek met Abraham returning
from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of
everything. First, his name means "king of righteousness"; then also,
"king of Salem" means "king of peace." Without father or
mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the
Son of God he remains a priest forever. Just think how great he was: Even the
patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder! ...And it is yet far more
evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedek there ariseth another
priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the
power of an endless life. For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after
the order of Melchisedek [Psalm 110:4]. For there is verily a disannulling of
the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For
the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the
which we draw nigh unto God. And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made
priest ... By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they
truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason
of death. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable
priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come
unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such
an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,
and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests,
to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for
this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high
priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the
law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Now of the things which
we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the
right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the
sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
He Shall be the Good Shepherd
Ezekiel 34:23-25
[God the Father promises to the Jews:] I
will set up one Shepherd over them, and He shall feed them, even My servant
David [the Messiah]; He shall feed them, and He shall be their Shepherd. And I
the Lord will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I the
Lord have spoken it. And I will make with them a covenant of peace.
Hosea 13:9-11
bears witness to the God of the Old
Testament being the King over His people. O Israel, thou hast destroyed
thyself; but in me is thine help. I will be thy king: where is any other that
may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a
king and princes?
Zechariah 14:16
And it shall come to pass, that every
one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go
up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the
feast of tabernacles.
Zechariah 10:3
teaches us that God is the Shepherd of
Judah.
John 10:11-16
[Jesus to the Jews:] I am the good
shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an
hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf
coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and
scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and
careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am
known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay
down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold:
them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one
fold, and one shepherd.
John 21:16
He saith to him again the second time,
Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest
that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.Who are these sheep? They
are the House of Israel. Peter was given the commandment to feed the sheep
belonging to Christ. In feeding the sheep, he gave them the word of Christ.6
However he was commanded to not proselyte to the Gentiles till after he
received the revelation commanding him to do so.
Hebrews 13:20:
Now the God of peace, that brought again
from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the
blood of the everlasting covenant,
Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and
the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and
they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
God as our Redeemer
Isaiah 47:4
As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts
is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Hosea 13:14
gives an even more clear picture as to
what redeeming means, when not in the context of the Babylonian or Egyptian
captivities. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them
from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
(Isaiah 53:4-6)
"Surely he hath borne our griefs.
and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions. he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him: and with his stripes we
are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his
own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
(Micah 7:7,8)
"Therefore I will look unto the
LORD: I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not
against me, mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness. the
LORD shall be a light unto me.
(Psalm 16:10,11)
"For thou wilt not leave my soul in
hell: neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew
me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there
are pleasures for evermore."
(Acts 2:29-32)
Peter on Pentecost day said: "Men
and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is
both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore
being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of
the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit
on his throne; he seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that
his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus
hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses."
He Shall be King
Psalm 2:6-12
Yet have I [God-Father] set my King
[Messiah] upon my holy hill of Zion... Ask of me, and I shall give thee the
heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy
possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in
pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be
instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with
trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his
wrath is kindled but a little.
Jeremiah 23:5
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and
prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Isaiah 33:22
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our
lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion;
shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy King cometh unto thee; he is just,
and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal
of an ass.
Matthew 21:5
Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold,
thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal
of an ass.
Matthew 27:37
And set up over his head his accusation
written, this is Jesus The King of the Jews.
John 18:33-37
Then Pilate entered into the judgment
hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it
thee of me? Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests
have delivered thee unto me; what hast thou done? Jesus answered, My kingdom is
not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants
fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not
from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus
answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this
cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every
one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Revelation 19:11-16
And I [St. John] saw heaven opened, and
behold a white horse... And his name is called The Word of God... And he hath
on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of
Lords.
The Holy Spirit shall rest upon Him
Isaiah 11:2
And the spirit of the Lord shall rest
upon Him [the Messiah], the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of
counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 42:1
Behold my Servant, whom I uphold; mine
elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put My Spirit upon Him; He shall
bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Isaiah 61:1
[The Messiah says:] The Spirit of the
Lord God is upon me; because the Lord [the Father] hath anointed me to preach
good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that
are bound.
Psalm 45:7
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest
wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness
above thy fellows.
Matthew 3:16-17
And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up
straightway out of the water; and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and he
saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him; And lo a
voice from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Luke 4:15-21
And he taught in their synagogues, being
glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and,
as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up
for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written. The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel
to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them
that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord ...And he closed
the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of
all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say
unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
John 1:32
And John [the Baptist] bare record,
saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon
him [Jesus].
A Messenger shall prepare His way
Isaiah 40:3
The voice of him that crieth in the
wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a
highway for our God.
Malachi 3:1
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he
shall prepare the way before me, and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly
come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in;
behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.
Matthew 11:10
For this [John the Baptist] is he, of
whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall
prepare thy way before thee.
John 1:23
He [John the Baptist] said, I am the
voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as
said the prophet Isaiah.
BE FROM NAZARETH OF GALILEE
Isaiah 9:1-2
There will be no more gloom for those
who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulon and the land
of Naphtalim, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the
way of the sea, along the Jordan. The people walking in darkness have seen a
great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has
dawned.
Matthew 2:22-23
But when he heard that Archelaus was
reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there.
Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called
Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be
called a Nazarene."
Matthew 4:12-17
Now when Jesus had heard that John was
cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; And leaving Nazareth, he came and
dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and
Nephthalim. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet,
saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea,
beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness saw
great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is
sprung up. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The Light of the Gentiles
Isaiah 49:6
he [the Lord] says: "It is too
small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring
back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the
Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth."
Isaiah 42:1-4, 6
"Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring
justice to the nations. He will
not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A
bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be scouraged till
he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their
hope." "I, the LORD,
have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will
keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the
Gentiles,
Matthew 12:14-21
But the Pharisees went out and plotted
how they might kill Jesus. Aware
of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all
their sick, warning them not to
tell who he was. This was to
fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "Here is my servant whom I have
chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he
will proclaim justice to the nations.
He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the
streets. A bruised reed he will
not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice
to victory. In his name the
nations will put their hope."
MINISTRY WOULD INCLUDE MIRACULOUS
HEALINGS
Isaiah 29:18
In that day the deaf will hear the words
of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.
Isaiah 35:3-7
Strengthen ye the weak hands, and
confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong,
fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a
recompense; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be
opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man
leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall
waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall
become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water.
Matthew 9:33-35
And when the devil was cast out, the
dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in
Israel... And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness
and every disease among the people.
Luke 7:20-22
When the men came to Jesus, they said,
"John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, `Are you the one who was to come,
or should we expect someone else?' "
At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses
and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers,
"Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind
receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear,
the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor."
MINISTRY WOULD DELIVER SPIRITUAL
CAPTIVES
Isaiah 61:1-2
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on
me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and
release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance
of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
Luke 4:16-21
He went to Nazareth, where he had been
brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his
custom. And he stood up to read.
The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it,
he found the place where it is written:
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the
prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's
favor." Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the
attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on
him, and he began by saying to
them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
He shall come to the temple
Malachi 3:1
Behold, I will send my messenger [John
the Baptist], and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye
seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant
[the Messiah], whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of
hosts.
Psalm 69:9
[The Messiah's words:] For the zeal of
thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee
[My Father] are fallen upon me.
Matthew 21:12
And Jesus went into the temple of God,
and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the
tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
John 2:15-17
And when he [Jesus] had made a scourge
of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the
oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said
unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house
an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The
zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
His entry into Jerusalem
Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion;
shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just,
and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal
of an ass.
Psalm 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings
hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still
the enemy and the avenger.
Matthew 21:7-16
And brought the ass, and the colt, and
put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude
spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and
strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that
followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh
in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into
Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said,
This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee... And when the chief priests
and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in
the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea;
have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected
praise?
He shall be a stumbling stone
Psalm 118:22
The stone which the builders refused is
become the head stone of the corner.
Isaiah 8:14
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for
a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel,
for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold,
I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone,
a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.
Matthew 21:42-43
Jesus saith unto them [Pharisees], Did
ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the
same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is
marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be
taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Romans 9:32-33
Wherefore? Because they [the Jews]
sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they
stumbled at that stumbling stone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a
stumbling stone and rock of offence; and whosoever believeth on him shall not
be ashamed.
1 Peter 2:7
Unto you therefore which believe he is
precious; but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders
disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.
Ephesians 2:19-22
Ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built
upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being
the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth
unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an
habitation of God through the Spirit.
A close one shall betray him
Psalm 41:9
[The Messiah's words:] Yea, mine own
familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up
his heel against me.
Psalm 55:12-14
For it was not an enemy that reproached
me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did
magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him. But it was
thou [Judas], a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet
counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
Psalm 41:9
"Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he
who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me."
Mark 14:10
"Then Judas Iscariot, one of the
Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them."
Zechariah 11:12
"I told them, 'If you think it
best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.' So they paid me thirty pieces of
silver."
Matthew 26:14-16
"Then one of the Twelve - the one
called Judas Iscariot - went to the chief priests and asked, 'What are you
willing to give me if I hand him over to you?' So they counted out for him
thirty silver coins."
Isaiah 53:7
"He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as
a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth."
Mark 15:5
"But Jesus still made no reply, and
Pilate was amazed."
Psalm 22:1-2 7-8
"My God, my God, why have you
forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my
groaning? O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am
not silent...... "All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their
heads: 'He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him,
since he delights in him.'"
Matthew 27:46
"About the ninth hour Jesus cried
out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?' - which means, 'My God, my
God, why have you forsaken me?'"
John 13:21-26
When Jesus had thus said, he was
troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
that one of you shall betray me. Then the disciples looked one on another,
doubting of whom he spake. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his
disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he
should ask who it should be of whom he spake. He then lying on Jesus' breast
saith unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give
a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to
Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
Matthew 27:41-44
"In the same way the chief priests,
the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 'He saved others,' they
said, 'but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down
now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God
rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, I am the Son of God.' In the same
way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him."
He shall be sold for 30 pieces of silver
SILVER RETURNED USED TO BUY POTTER'S
FIELD
Zechariah 11:7, 10-13
And I will feed the flock of slaughter,
even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called
Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
.......... I told them, "If you
think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me
thirty pieces of silver. . And the Lord said unto me [prophet Zechariah], Cast
it [the coins] unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at of them.
And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the
house of the Lord.
Hosea 2:19-20:
And I will betroth thee [Israel] unto me
for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment,
and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto me in
faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
Matthew 26:14-15
Then one of the Twelve--the one called
Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests
and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him
over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins.
Matthew 27:3-7
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when
he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty
pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, I have sinned in that
I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou
to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and
went and hanged himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and
said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the
price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field,
to bury strangers in.
Acts 1:16-19
[Apostle Peter to the crowd:] Men and
brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost
by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them
that took Jesus. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this
ministry. Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and
falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is
called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
Revelation 11:13:
And the same hour was there a great
earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were
slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to
the God of heaven. So we have merely established that there will be an
earthquake, then there will be major shifts in the landscape. How then, does
Christ tie into all of this? We can look to 1 Corinthians 1:7-8 as a quick
reference:
Revelation 21:2, 9:
And I John saw the holy city, new
Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for
her husband. And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven
vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither,
I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
Lord of the Sabbath
Isaiah 26:13-14:
O LORD our God, other lords beside thee
have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise:
therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to
perish.
[Isaiah 43:10]
"No God Formed Before Me" Ye
are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye
may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no
God formed, neither shall there be after me.

there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

"Words ... Shall Not Depart Out Of
Thy Mouth". And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn
from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. As for me, this is my covenant
with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I
have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth
of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from
henceforth and for ever .
John 10:28-29
And I give unto them eternal life; and
they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My
Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck
them out of my Father's hand.
Revelation 21:7:
He that overcometh shall inherit all
things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
DISCIPLES WOULD SCATTER
Zechariah 13:7
Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and
against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd,
and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little
ones.
Matthew 26:31
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall
be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the
shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel's ruler on the cheek

my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and
spitting."

"He is despised and rejected of
men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our
faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not."
Psalm 69:19,20
"Thou hast known my reproach, and
my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee. Reproach hath
broken my heart: and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take
pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none." Jesus the
Crucified
Psalm 22, 6,7, 17, 18
The mockery, scorn and biting derision of his
enemies, and Christ's uncomplaining submission were prophesied: "But I am
a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they
that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the
head." ....... "For dogs have
compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my
hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me."
.."They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture."
HATED WITHOUT CAUSE & REJECTED BY
RULERS
Psalm 69:8
I am become a stranger unto my brethren,
and an alien unto my mother's children.
Psalm 118:22
The stone the builders rejected has
become the capstone [cornerstone of a building]; the LORD has done this, and it is
marvelous in our eyes.
John 1:11
He came unto his own, and his own
received him not.
John 7: 5, 48-49
For neither did his brethren believe in
him.....Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? No! But this mob that knows nothing of
the law--there is a curse on them.
Matthew 21:42-43
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read
in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become
the head of the corner; this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our
eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and
given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
DESPISED AND REJECTED BY MEN
SUFFERED FOR THE SINS OF OTHERS
Psalm 69:4, 8
Those who hate me without reason
outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who
seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal... I am a
stranger to my brothers, an alien to my own mother's sons.
Isaiah 49:7
Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of
Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation
abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also
shall worship, because of the Lord that is faithful, and the Holy One of
Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Psalm 22:1, 17-18
"My strength is dried up like a
potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust
of death." "I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me.
They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing."
Matthew 27:48
"Immediately one of them ran and
got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it
to Jesus to drink."
John 19:23
"When the soldiers crucified Jesus,
they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them,
with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece
from top to bottom."
John 1:41
He first findeth his own brother Simon,
and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the
Christ. From the time of the Old Testament, Israel was looking for her Messiah,
and when he came those that were ready found him.
John 4:25
The woman saith unto him, I know that
Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all
things.
NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER, BUT BY
ME.
Romans 4: 25
He was delivered over to death for our
sins and was raised to life for our justification.
1 Corinthians 15:3
I handed on to you first of all what I
myself received, that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the
Scriptures
Mark 3:20-21
Then Jesus entered a house, and again a
crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. When his family heard about this, they
went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."
"Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? No! But this mob that knows nothing of
the law--there is a curse on them."
John 7:1-5, 48-49
After this, Jesus went around in
Galilee, purposely staying away from Judea because the Jews there were waiting
to take his life. But when the Jewish
Feast of Tabernacles was near,
Jesus' brothers said to him, "You ought to leave here and go
to Judea, so that your disciples may see the miracles you do. No one who wants to become a public
figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the
world."
John 15:22-25
If I had not come and spoken unto them,
they had not had sin; but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth
me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none
other man did, they had not had sin; but now have they both seen and hated both
me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled
that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
John 14:6
I am the way, the truth, and the life:
He shall suffer on the Cross for our
offences
CRUSHED FOR OUR INIQUITIES
Leviticus 17:11
For the life of the flesh is in the
blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your
souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Deuteronomy 18:15-16,
Moses told Israel that God was going to
raise up a Prophet from amongst their brethren that would be like himself a
mediator between the people and God. The prophesy is then repeated from God's
perspective in verses 17-19 accompanied by a warning-- And the LORD said unto
me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. l raise them up a
Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his
mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall
come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall
speak in my name, I will require it of him. The Lord Jesus Christ did not come
to destroy the law and the prophets, he came to fulfill what was written. He is
that great Prophet.
Isaiah 28:14-19
Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye
scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Because ye have
said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement;
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for
we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: [they
have rejected our Lord and infected a multitude of others with their
blasphemies] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a
foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation:
he that believeth shall not make haste [won't be afraid]. Judgment also will I
lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep
away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And
your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell
shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall
be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for
morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a
vexation only to understand the report.
Isaiah 53:1-8
Who hath believed our report? and to
whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he [the Messiah] shall grow up before
him [his Father] as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath
no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we
should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried
our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But
he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All
we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and
the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, o he openeth not his
mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his
generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the
transgression of my people was he stricken.
Zechariah 13:6
And one shall say unto him, What are
these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was
wounded in the house of my friends.
Psalm 22:7-8
All they that see me laugh me to scorn;
they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord
that he would deliver him; let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in
him.
Psalms 118:22
The stone which the builders refused is
become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous
in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be
glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now
prosperity. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed
you out of the house of the LORD. God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light:
bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. Thou art my
God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. O give thanks
unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Matthew 3:9
And think not to say within yourselves,
We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these
stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the
law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say
unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise
pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 26:67
Then did they spit in his face, and
buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands.
Matthew 27:30-31
And they spit upon him, and took the
reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took
the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to
crucify him.
Mark 7:6
Well hath Esaias [Isaiah] prophesied of
you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but
their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for
doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye
hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such
like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment
of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honour thy father
and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But
ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to
say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the
word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and
many such like things do ye.
The rabbis have rejected our precious
Lord Jesus Christ, just like the Hebrew scriptures said they would, but we
(saved people--Jew and Gentile) praise him and are glad:
Luke 11:52
Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken
away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were
entering in ye hindered.
Acts: 8:27-35
And he [St. Philip] arose and went: and,
behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of
the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to
Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Isaiah
the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to
this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet
Isaiah, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I,
except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up
and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led
as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened
he not his mouth. In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall
declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch
answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of
himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opend his mouth, and began at the
same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And when he had thus spoken, one
of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying,
Answerest thou the high priest so?

God, who at sundry times and in divers
manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last
days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by
whom also he made the worlds;

Judah [the Messiah] is a lion's whelp;
From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion;
And as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be
the obedience of the people. Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey's

The other disciples therefore said unto
him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his
hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails,
and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days
again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Then came Jesus, the
doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then
saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach
hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but
believing.
Revelation 5:5-6
Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah
[Jesus], the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its
seven seals. And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the
four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though
it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven
Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

transgressors

lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, which
saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast

and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of

linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the

the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes,
about an hundred pound weight. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it
in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Now in
the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new
sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore
because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
1 Corinthians 1:18-30
The preaching of the cross is to them
[gentiles] that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power
of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will
bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is
the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the
wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom
knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that
believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom. But we
preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks
foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the
power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser
than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men... God hath chosen the
foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak
things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of
the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things
which are not, to bring to nought things that are. That no flesh should glory
in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us
wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
1 Corinthians 15:3-42
For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the
twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom
the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After
that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was
seen of me also, as of one born out of due time... Now if Christ be preached
that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no
resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is
Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and
your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because
we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so
be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then
they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only
we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ
risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since
by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in
Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his
own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his
coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to
God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority
and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The
last enemy that shall be destroyed is death... But some man will say, How are
the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou
sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest
not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some
other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed
his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh
of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There
are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the
celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one
glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the
stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the
resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption.
FAMILIAR WITH SUFFERING
Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected by men, a
man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their
faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Mark 5:14-17
Those tending the pigs ran off and
reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what
had happened. When they came to Jesus,
they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there,
dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. Those who had seen it told the people
what had happened to the demon- possessed man--and told about the pigs as
well. Then the people began to plead
with Jesus to leave their region.
He shall resurrect on the third day
Jonah 1:17
The Lord had prepared a great fish to
swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three
nights.
Isaiah 53:10-12
It pleased the Lord to bruise him [the
Messiah]; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering
for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of
the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify
many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion
with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath
poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and
he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Psalm 16:8-10
I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. For thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psalm 30:3
O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul
from the grave; thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
Psalm 41:10
But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me,
and raise me up, that I may requite them.
Psalm 118:17
I shall not die, but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.
Hosea 6:2
After two days will he revive us; in the
third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
Matthew 12:40
For as Jonas was three days and three
nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three
nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 16:21
From that time forth began Jesus to shew
unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things
of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again
the third day.
Luke 11:30
For as Jonas was a sign unto the
Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
John 2:19-21
Jesus answered and said unto them,
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews,
Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in
three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.
Matthew 28:2, 5-7, 9
There was a violent earthquake, for an
angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the
stone and sat on it. The angel said to
the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus,
who was crucified. He is not here; he
has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go
quickly and tell his disciples: `He has risen from the dead and is going ahead
of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." Suddenly Jesus met them.
"Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped
him.
Mark 16:6
And he saith unto them, Be not
affrighted; Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified; he is risen; he is
not here; behold the place where they laid him.
Luke 24:21-27
[Luke and Cleopas to the
"Stranger":] We trusted that it had been he which should have
redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these
things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us
astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his
body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said
that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the
sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
Then he [Jesus] said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that
the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and
to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:46
[Jesus] said unto them [the Apostles],
Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the
dead the third day.
John 20:8-9
Then went in also that other disciple
[Apostle John], which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
Acts 2:25-32
[St. Peter to the crowd:] For David
speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on
my right hand, that I should not be moved; Therefore did my heart rejoice, and
my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope; Because thou
wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see
corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me
full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto
you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre
is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had
sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the
flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before
spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell,
neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we
all are witnesses.
Acts 13:35-37
[St. Paul preaching in a Synagoge:]
Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One
to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the
will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.
Wisdom 2:5-3:9
(a Deutero-canonical book composed in
the 3rd century B.C.)
[The psychology of Christ's enemies
(2:5-16):]
Our time is a very shadow that passeth
away; and after our end there is no returning: for it is fast sealed, so that
no man cometh again. Come on therefore, let us enjoy the good things that are
present: and let us speedily use the creatures like as in youth. Let us fill
ourselves with costly wine and ointments: and let no flower of the spring pass
by us: Let us crown ourselves with rosebuds, before they be withered: Let none
of us go without his part of our voluptuousness: let us leave tokens of our
joyfulness in every place: for this is our portion, and our lot is this. Let us
oppress the poor righteous man, let us not spare the widow, nor reverence the
ancient gray hairs of the aged. Let our strength be the law of justice: for
that which is feeble is found to be nothing worth. Therefore let us lie in wait
for the Righteous; because he is not for our turn, and he is clean contrary to
our doings: he upbraideth us with our offending the law, and objecteth to our
infamy the transgressings of our education. He professeth to have the knowledge
of God: and he calleth himself the Son of the Lord. He was made to reprove our
thoughts. He is grievous unto us even to behold: for his life is not like other
men's, his ways are of another fashion. We are esteemed of him as counterfeits:
he abstaineth from our ways as from filthiness: he pronounceth the end of the
just to be blessed, and maketh his boast that God is his Father.
[About the death of Messiah and of many
that followed His teaching (2:17-24).]
Let us see if his words be true: and let
us prove what shall happen in the end of him. For if the just man be the son of
God, he will help him, and deliver him from the hand of his enemies. Let us
examine him with despitefulness and torture, that we may know his meekness, and
prove his patience. Let us condemn him with a shameful death: for by his own
saying he shall be respected. Such things they did imagine, and were deceived:
for their own wickedness hath blinded them. As for the mysteries of God, they
kn ew them not: neither hoped they for the wages of righteousness, nor
discerned a reward for blameless souls. For God created man to be immortal, and
made him to be an image of his own eternity. Nevertheless through envy of the
devil came death into the world: and they that do hold of his side do find it.
[The victory of the Messiah and His
followers (3:1-9):]
But the souls of the righteous are in
the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them. In the sight of the
unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery, and their
going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace. For though they
be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality. And
having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved
them, and found them worthy for himself. As gold in the furnace hath he tried
them, and received them as a burnt offering. And in the time of their
visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.
They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord
shall reign for ever. They that put their trust in him shall understand the
truth: and such as be faithful in love shall abide with him: for grace and
mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his elect.
He shall ascend into heaven
Psalm 68:18
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast
led captivity captive; thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the
rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
Psalm 16:11
"Thou wilt shew me the path of
life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures
for evermore.
Psalm 110:1-2
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at
my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. "The LORD shall
send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine
enemies."
(Jeremiah 31:10)
"Hear the word of the LORD, O ye
nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered
Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock."
(Jeremiah 30:3)
"For, lo, the days come, saith the
LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah,
saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to
their fathers, and they shall possess it."
(Isaiah 9:6,7)
"For unto us a child is born, unto
us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name
shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be
no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to
establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The
zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."
Acts 3:21
"Whom (Jesus) the heaven must
receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by
the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." The Jesus who ascended to heaven is the
Christ who is coming to reign on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. He
who wore the crown of thorns will wear the crown of glory. He will reign as
King over all the earth. This is beyond doubt. Those promises will be fulfilled
as surely as the prophecies about his first coming were fulfilled in him.
John 1:10-11
"He was in the world, and though
the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to
that which was his own, but his own did not receive him."
Mark 16:19
So then after the Lord had spoken unto
them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
Luke 24:51
And it came to pass, while he blessed
them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
Acts 1:9
And when he had spoken these things,
while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their
sight.
Acts 2:34-36
For David is not ascended into the
heavens; but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right
hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of
Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have
crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Hebrews 1:3
[Jesus] Who being the brightness of his
[Fathers] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things
by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on
the right hand of the Majesty on high.
The establishing of the covenant
Isaiah 55:3
Incline your ear, and come unto me;
hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with
you, even the sure mercies of David.
Jeremiah 31:31-34
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of
Judah. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day
that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my
covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord. But
this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in
their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they
shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying,
Know the Lord; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the
greatest of them, saith the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will
remember their sin no more.
Ezekiel 36:26-27
A new heart will I give you, and a new
spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your
flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within
you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and
do them.
Matthew 26:28
[Jesus at the Last Supper:] For this is
my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of
sins.
Acts 3:13, 25
"Covenant Which God Made With Our
Fathers" The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our
fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in
the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.Ye are the
children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers,
saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be
blessed .
1 Corinthians 11:25
After the same manner also he [Jesus]
took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my
blood; this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
2 Corinthians 3:3-6
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared
to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with
the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of
the heart... Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of
the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth
life.
Hebrews 8:7-13
For if that first covenant had been
faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding
fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will
make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. Not
according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took
them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued
not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the
covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the
Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I
will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people; And they shall not
teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the
Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be
merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I
remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old.
Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Hebrews 9:15
for this cause he [Jesus] is the

the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called
might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Isaiah 41:18
I will open rivers in high places, and
fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of

Joel 2:28-30 .
And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
visions. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I
pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,
blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Zechariah 12:10
And I will pour upon the house of David,
and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of
supplications; and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they
shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in
bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Zechariah 14:8
And it shall be in that day, that living
waters shall go out from Jerusalem.
John 7:38-39
He that believeth on me, as the
scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But
this spake he [Jesus] of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should
receive; for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet
glorified.
Acts 2:1-4, 14-21
And when the day of Pentecost was fully
come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a
sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house
where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of
fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy
Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance
... Then Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto
them [the crowd], Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this
known unto you, and hearken to my words... This is that which was spoken by the
prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy... And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be saved.
The Spread of the Church
Isaiah 2:2-3
And it shall come to pass in the last
days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of
the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow
unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of
his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the
law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 54:1
Sing, O barren, thou that didst not
bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with
child; for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the
married wife.
Hosea 2:23
And I will sow her unto me in the earth;
and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to
them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art
my God.
Galatians 4:27
For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren
that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not; for the
desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Opposition to Faith
Psalm 2.
Why do the heathen rage, and the people
imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers
take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let
us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that
sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then
shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree:
the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask
of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Acts 4:13-31
When they (High Priests) saw the
boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant
men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with
Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could
say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the
council, they conferred among themselves, saying, What shall we do to these
men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to
all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no
further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak
henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not
to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and
said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you
more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have
seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go,
finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men
glorified God for that which was done. For the man was above forty years old,
on whom this miracle of healing was shewed. And being let go, they went to
their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said
unto them. And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one
accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and
the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast
said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings
of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord,
and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou
hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the
people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy
counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings:
and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By
stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by
the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was
shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the
Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
The Destruction of Jerusalem
Daniel 9:25-27
[Archangel Gabriel to the Prophet
Daniel:] Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall
be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks; the street shall be built again,
and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself; and the people of the prince that shall
come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be
with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he
shall confirm the covenant with many for one week; and in the midst of the week
he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the
overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Explanation. The entire time from the
decree to restore Jerusalem to the establishment of the New Testament and the
second destruction of this city is divided into three periods. Each period is
measured in "week" years, i.e. seven-year spans. (The Hebrew word for
"week" is "shavua" which literally means
"seven.") The meaning of the prophecy is this: for the Judaic nation
and for the holy city are determined 70 "weeks" (70x7= 490 years),
until the coming of the Holy of Holies (Christ), who will erase lawlessness,
bring eternal truth and fulfill all the prophecies. The order for the new
construction of Jerusalem and the temple will serve as the beginning of these
weeks. The end wiil bring a second destruction of both. These weeks are divided
in the following manner. During the first seven "weeks" (i.e. 49
years) Jerusalem and the Temple will be rebuilt. Then, toward the end of the 62
weeks (i.e. 434 years) Christ will come, but He will suffer and will be put to
death. In the course of the last "week" the New Testament will be
established, and in the middle of this "week" regular sacrifices in
the Temple of Jerusalem will cease, and there will be the abomination of
desolation in the sanctuary. Then will come a people, guided by a leader, who
will destroy the holy city and the Temple.
It is interesting and instructive to
trace how the historical events unfolded in the time period designated by the
Archangel Gabriel. The decree for the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by
the Persian king Artaxerxes (of the dynasty Archaemenidae in 453 B.C.). This
momentous event is described in depth by Nehemiah in the 2nd chapter of his
book. The enumeration of Daniel's "weeks" should begin from the
moment of the issuance of this decree. By the Greek method of numbering the
years, this was the 3rd year of the 76th Olympiad or by the Roman chronology
the 299th year after the founding of Rome. The restoration of the walls and
Temple was protracted for a about 40 or 50 years (seven "weeks")
because several heathen nations, living in the regions neighboring Jerusalem,
hindered the restoration of this city in every possible way. In accordance to the prophecy, the Messiah
was to suffer for the cleansing of human sins in the period between 69 and 70
weeks. If one adds to the year of the issuance of the decree of the restoration
of Jerusalem 69 weeks, i.e. 483 years, then this equals the 30th year of the
Christian method of numbering years. It was around this time, from 30 to 37 AD,
according to the prophecy, that the Messiah was to suffer and die. The
Evangelist Luke writes that the Lord Jesus Christ came out to preach in the
15th year of the rule of the Roman emperor Tiberius. This coincides with the
782nd year from the founding of Rome or with the 30th year after the birth of
Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ taught three and a half years and suffered in the
33rd or 34th year of our era, precisely during the time, indicated by St.
Daniel. The Christian faith began to spread very quickly after the Resurrection
of Christ, so that indeed the last, 70th Week involved the establishment of the
New Testament among many people.
Jerusalem was destroyed a second time in
the 70th year of this era by the Roman military leader Titus. During the siege
of Jerusalem by the Roman legions, complete chaos ruled the city because of
discord among the Judean leaders. As a result of this strife, religious
services in the Temple were conducted very irregularly, and finally, in the
Temple, as predicted by the Archangel to the prophet Daniel, reigned
"abomination of desolation."
Thus, the coincidence of the prophecy
both with the subsequent historical events in the life of the Hebrew nation and
with the Gospel narrative is astonishing.
Here it should be mentioned that the
Hebrew rabbis very often forbade their fellow countrymen to count the weeks of
Daniel. The rabbi of Gemar even subjected those Hebrews, who would calculate
the year of the coming of the Messiah, to the following curse: "May the
bones shake of those, who calculate the times ...Perish all those who calculate
the end, for men will say, since the predicted end is here and the Messiah has
not come, he will never come!" (Sanhedrin 97b).
Matthew 24:1-2
And Jesus went out, and departed from
the temple; and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the
temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say
unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not
be thrown down.
Luke 19:43-44
For the days shall come upon thee, that
thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep
thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy
children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another;
because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Matthew 24:15-19
[Jesus to His disciples:] When ye therefore
shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand
in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be
in Judaea flee into the mountains. Let him which is on the housetop not come
down to take any thing out of his house, neither let him which is in the field
return back to take his clothes.
God as our Rock
1 Samuel 2:2,
There is none holy as the LORD: for
there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
1 Corinthians 10:1-4:
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye
should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all
passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in
the sea;
And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual
Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
Romans 9:33:
As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion
a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not
be ashamed.
The Messiah shall judge the world
Isaiah 11:1-4
And there shall come forth a rod out of
the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots ... With
righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of
the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with
the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked [the antichrist]. And
righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of
his reins.
Isaiah 32:1
Behold, a King shall reign in
righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Isaiah 33:22:
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is
our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
Daniel 7:13-14
I saw in the night visions, and, behold,
one like the Son of man [Messiah] came with the clouds of heaven, and came to
the Ancient of days [God-Father], and they brought him near before him. And
there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people,
nations, and languages, should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be
destroyed.
Ezekiel 34:30-31
We see a solid message as to the God of
the Old Testament's relationship to the House of Israel. Thus shall they know
that I the LORD their God am with them, and that they, even the house of
Israel, are my people, saith the Lord GOD. And ye my flock, the flock of my
pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.
Jesus Christ is indeed not only our
Shepherd, but more so a Shepherd of sheep in general.
Micah 7:9
I will bear the indignation of the LORD,
because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute
judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his
righteousness.
Matthew 24:30
And then shall appear the sign of the
Son of man in heaven [the Cross]; and then shall all the tribes of the earth
mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory.
Matthew 26:64
Jesus saith unto him [High Priest] ...
Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and
coming in the clouds of heaven.
John 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing; as I
hear, I judge; and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but
the will of the Father which hath sent me.
2 Timothy 4:1
I charge thee therefore before God, and
the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing
and his kingdom.
1 John 2:1:
My little children, these things write I
unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the
Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Revelation 19:11-16
And I [St. John] saw heaven opened, and
behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and
in righteousness he doth judge and make war.. and his name is called The Word
of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a
rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King
of Kings, and Lord of Lords.
